Il calore rinnovabile di Vienna

Vienna aims to achieve a district heating network powered entirely by renewable energy sources by 2040. The recipe is straightforward but ambitious: geothermal energy, solar power, heat pumps, waste heat recovery, seasonal storage, and even CO₂ capture. Vienna’s district heating network, operated by Wien Energie, is the largest in Austria. Founded in 1969, it has a maximum capacity of 3.1 GW and supplies approximately 6,000 GWh of heat per year to its customers. Covering around 30% of the city’s total heat demand, the network provides heating to approximately 460,000 connected households.
